Overshot fishing tools
overshot is a kind of composite fishing tools used for fishing of catches in different sizes such as sucker rod, coupling, weight drill pipe and well logging instrument out of casing, overshot fishing tool is attached to a drill pipe or tubing and lowered over the outside of the well. The overshot will grab the rod that is stuck and sticking out of the well. overshot contains a friction device that will grip the rod or bar so it can be pulled free. The winch is retracted, pulling the core tube to the surface. The core does not drop out of the inside of the core tube when lifted because either a split ring core lifter or basket retainer allow the core to move into, but not back out of the tube.
